# 3D Recon Image Data

Operating system: windows 10  
Slicer version: 11.0  
Expected behavior: Uploading 3D image reconstructions  
Actual behavior: When trying to upload a 3D skull recon fine, it says “cannot load as a scalar volume.” Is there any way to be able to upload these files? The way I have the DICOM data is in 5 mm slices so I cannot use the axial, coronal, or sagittal slices to make a smooth model in slicer, so I’m wondering if I can somehow just upload the 3D recon from the DICOM file because in the image viewer where the dicom was copied from, it appears as a smooth skull
