Andrew Maclean has just added an example to the [VTK Examples](https://lorensen.github.io/VTKExamples/site/).
The example, called AnatomicalOrientation, depicts a human figure by the three commonly used anatomical planes.
The C++ version is [here](https://lorensen.github.io/VTKExamples/site/Cxx/VisualizationAlgorithms/AnatomicalOrientation/).
The Python version is [here](https://lorensen.github.io/VTKExamples/site/Python/VisualizationAlgorithms/AnatomicalOrientation/).

The human data file is taken from: [Human.vtp](https://github.com/Slicer/Slicer/blob/master/Base/Logic/Resources/OrientationMarkers/Human.vtp). Thanks to the Slicer people for providing this.
