# Edit the rotation tags in DICOM CT slices without modify the image

Dear all:  
I would like to know the option in 3D Slicer to edic the DICOM tags regarding to the patient rotation, without modify the CT images. Please, anyone has experinec with this issue?.

If you apply linear transform, harden it, and then export as dicom this should work.

Hi @JFC - Regarding the suggestion of a teams call: a goal of this forum is to jointly discover, document, and disseminate ways to use Slicer to accomplish important tasks in medical imaging, so we like to keep everything public for mutual benefit rather than having one-on-one discussions that are not available to others.

Back to your question, the steps are as follows:

- load the data using the [DICOM module](https://slicer.readthedocs.io/en/latest/user_guide/modules/dicom.html#dicom-import)
- create a linear transform using the [Transforms module](https://slicer.readthedocs.io/en/latest/user_guide/modules/transforms.html#create-a-transform)
- [apply the transform](https://slicer.readthedocs.io/en/latest/user_guide/modules/transforms.html#apply-transform-to-a-node) to the loaded volume
- use the sliders or the interactive tools to [set the desired rotation](https://slicer.readthedocs.io/en/latest/user_guide/modules/transforms.html#modify-transform)
- [harden the transform](https://slicer.readthedocs.io/en/latest/user_guide/modules/transforms.html#harden-transform-on-a-node) on the data
- [export](https://slicer.readthedocs.io/en/latest/user_guide/data_loading_and_saving.html#export-data) the rotated data [as DICOM](https://slicer.readthedocs.io/en/latest/user_guide/modules/dicom.html#export-data-from-the-scene-to-dicom-database)

Do you want to change the DICOM tag (like PatientPosition)?
