# GPL3 license for Slicer derived app

As long as you comply with the terms of [the Slicer license](https://github.com/Slicer/Slicer/blob/master/License.txt) you are free to distribute your modifications under the license of your choice. For example, it can be [in a closed source application](https://discourse.slicer.org/t/slicer-usage-in-the-closed-commercial-product/14180).

We would encourage you not to use GPL, for [reasons outlined here](https://discourse.slicer.org/t/rpy2-pip-installation-fails/4883/15), but that’s up to you.
