# How to access 3DSlicer style (dark/light)

I am currently helping in developing an extension to 3DSlicer in Python. How can I access the style of 3DSlicer? Without using the OS style since a user may have manually changed the theme for 3DSlicer only.

Please follow [these steps](https://slicer.readthedocs.io/en/latest/developer_guide/python_faq.html#how-to-find-a-python-function-for-any-slicer-features) to find what Python command correspond to switching the style in the application settings. If you get stuck then describe how far you got and we’ll help out.
