# how to change the user name

Do you see an edit (pencil) button next to your username on [your account preferences page](https://discourse.slicer.org/u/iplneuro/preferences/account)?

Hi,

I have attached the screenshot of my account preference page but I could not see any pencil edit button over there. Can you please help me with this issue.

There are many configuration parameters that may affect the ability to change the username. The simplest would be to write me what username you would like and I can change it to that.
