I am 3D printing my friends skull. I did several hours of manual segmentation and have cleaned my model very well… however the thin bone/cartiledge/tissue is definitely trying. Is there a tool I can use that works almost like a paint bucket but only on the designated slice view? Sort of like the levels tracing, but within your defined border? The 2nd screenshot shows what I am trying to do, but in a different color so that you can see why it has to be done manually (the other sides have holes). I have been using the paint brush but it would save a lot of time not to need to do that. Cheers!!

You can find a “paint bucket” tool in [SegmentEditorExtraEffects extension](https://github.com/lassoan/SlicerSegmentEditorExtraEffects?tab=readme-ov-file#flood-filling) called “Flood filling” that is robust to presence of holes (you can specify the hole size that the filling can leak through).

If the hole is larger then “Flood filling” effect may not fill areas that you want to fill. In this case, you may want to use “Local threshold” effect.

If you need have an even large opening then you may need to use [SurfaceWrapSolidify extension’s](https://github.com/sebastianandress/Slicer-SurfaceWrapSolidify) “Wrap Solidify” effect.

The flood filling did not produce the correct results. It fills randomly and does not seem to matter where I click. Presumably because the obvious regions have already been sectioned. (See below)

I can get the SurfaceWrapSolidify working and that did fill many of them, but I have some funky spots that I have been working on manually… I think most of them are interior “C” shapes. I think learning to work with masks might be helpful also.
