# Showing a 2D dicom image in 3d view of slicer

Hello,  
I have a doubt regarding about showing a 2d dicom image in 3d view. What are the steps I have to take for showing a 2d dicom image in 3d view?. Could you please guide me to solve this issue?. I am attaching the screenshot .

Hi, you can show the contents of the 2D view in the 3D view. You need to expand the view controls using the icon that looks like a horizontal pushpin. See “Show slice in 3D views” under “View data” in this page: [Getting Started — 3D Slicer documentation](https://slicer.readthedocs.io/en/latest/user_guide/getting_started.html#using-slicer)
