# Slicer upgrade from Python 3.9.10 to Python 3.12

Windows nightly is still Python 3.9.10 (main, Jun 9 2025, 23:19:40) [MSC v.1942 64 bit (AMD64)] on win32. Is a build necessary?

As discussed during the [weekly hangout from June 10th](https://discourse.slicer.org/t/2025-06-10-weekly-meeting/43288/2), we transition from Python 3.9.10 to 3.12.10 is in progress and not yet integrated into the `main` branch.
