# TWO .stl file alignment and measurement

If meshes are very different then you may need to simplify the problem with manual preprocessing (cut off parts of the mesh that are changed; for example using Dynamic Modeler module’s [Select by points](https://discourse.slicer.org/t/new-dynamic-modeler-tool-select-by-points/22165) tool) and manual prealignment (using [landmark registration](https://slicer.readthedocs.io/en/latest/user_guide/registration.html#semi-automatic-registration)).
