I have been reading about Intel’s optane memory, particularly their “memory mode” which transiently
maps the optane memory as DRAM.

> **[Intel® Optane™ DC Persistent Memory Operating Modes Explained - IT Peer Network](https://itpeernetwork.intel.com/intel-optane-dc-persistent-memory-operating-modes/#gs.gqymtt)**

> Intel disclosed two different operating modes of Intel® Optane™ DC Persistent Memory: memory mode and app direct mode; both more affordable than DRAM.

This might be a cost-effective solution for people working on very large volumes with Slicer. I was wondering if anyone on the forum has a first-hand experience to speak about and how it compares to a virtual memory / swap operating on a nvme?
