3D Slicer has been used for geoscience (GeoSlicer – LTrace Geophysical Solutions) and also Astronomy (GitHub - Punzo/SlicerAstro: Astronomy (HI) extension for 3DSlicer (https://www.slicer.org/)) purposes.
