Virtual memory vs optane memory mode

I have been reading about Intel’s optane memory, particularly their “memory mode” which transiently
maps the optane memory as DRAM.

This might be a cost-effective solution for people working on very large volumes with Slicer. I was wondering if anyone on the forum has a first-hand experience to speak about and how it compares to a virtual memory / swap operating on a nvme?
