I’m not sure of the status of the SlicerSalt project and if it has any build failures. Those configuration issues look to be a specific problem with SlicerSalt rather than the infrastructure for a Slicer custom application.
Going through the template generator of GitHub - KitwareMedical/SlicerCustomAppTemplate: Template to be used as a starting point for creating a custom 3D Slicer application creates a good sample application starting point with some Kitware branding instead of Slicer branding. This is where I start when creating a new Slicer custom application.
