iotaMotion is hiring a Senior Software Development Engineer to specialize in developing the next-generation of robotic tools for neurotology! As a member of our team in Pittsburgh, PA (East Liberty), you will have the opportunity to engage with surgeons to optimize their treatment of those with hearing loss.
About Us: iotaMotion develops and commercializes robotic-assisted surgical technologies. The first commercially available product is iotaSOFT® Insertion System, which controls the insertion of a cochlear implant electrode array shown to reduce trauma to the cochlea. Day in the Life:
• Writing the next generation of surgical robotics applications for cochlear implantation.
• Develop data collection and analysis tools for early research and development
• Define and execute on software requirements.
• Participate in code review, design review, software and system testing when needed.
• Design, develop, and maintain software solutions for surgical robotics, with a strong emphasis on image-guided surgery.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, clinical experts, and software developers, to ensure seamless integration of software components into the surgical robotics system.
• Implement and optimize algorithms for image segmentation, image registration, and 3D transform math to enhance surgical visualization and guidance.
• Implement tracking systems to enhance the precision and accuracy of surgical tool placement.
• Design software architecture with a focus on modularity and testability to facilitate automated testing processes.
Requirements:
• Self-starter with ability to function in a rapidly evolving startup environment
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in medical devices
• Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field Proven experience (3+ years) in software development for surgical robotics or a related medical field
• Strong proficiency in C++, Python, and other relevant programming languages
• In-depth knowledge of 3D transform math, image segmentation, and image registration concepts
• Experience with automated testing processes and a focus on designing software for testability Nice to Have:
• Familiarity with medical imaging standards and protocols
• Familiarity or past experiences in surgical robotics or image-guided surgery
• MS in Robotics, Image Processing, Biomechanics, Medical Physics, or other relevant fields
• Experience in ENT surgery, with a specific focus on cochlear implant surgery • Experience or familiarity with Insight Toolkit (ITK), Visualization Toolkit (VTK), or 3DSlicer
• Familiarity with web stack development
• Experience developing regulation of medical device software and adherence to relevant regulatory standards
• Experience developing embedded software
