It sounds like you may have missed a step. Make sure you are using a tutorial from a recent version of Slicer. If you are still having trouble post some screenshots and someone should be able to make some suggestions for you.

It may be easier to post a full screenshot of your computer and mark where you don’t see what you expect. If you encounter any problems, you can try to use sample data sets, to see if there may be something special/unexpected in your data.

Thank you, the screenshot is very helpful! “Erase inside” erases parts from existing segments. You will not see any effect of this until you paint something. Choose “Fill inside” to paint something first (or use any of the other effects Paint, Draw, Threshold, etc.). I would also recommend to hide…

gee…“instead of thinking how it should be working”… i am working on getting a handle on it, but also comparing to the majority of applications, even graphical, or spectrum analyzers. it just means shifting mental gears. different isn’t always better, but one has to work with what is.
