We are looking for motivated candidates to join the newly established lab of Modeling and Simulation in Therapy and Surgery at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering (Karlsruhe, Germany).
Required qualifications and background
- PhD in any of these fields: Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Vision, Data Science, Medical Physics, or related field with emphasis in medical image analysis and machine learning;
- Demonstrated track record for solving difficult technical challenges using medical image analysis algorithms;
- Familiarity with open-source toolkits and applications for medical image analysis and machine learning such as ITK, VTK, Slicer, scikit-learn, Tensorflow, Keras and/or PyTorch;
- Experience programming in Python;
- Experience in software deployment and integration with hardware
Duties include:

to set up hardware and software for image processing and computer vision activities

to develop image processing procedures for several clinical applications, mostly based on ITK, Python, and Pytorch/Monai enviroment

to maintain multi-user machines powered by GNU/Linux operating system, equipped for high performance tasks (multi-GPUs)

to supervise Bachelor, Master and PhD students

to help with teaching duties (4 hours per week).
