Slicer 5.8.1 Patch Release
- Release Timeline: The patch release process will begin between February 28 and March 1.
- Tracking Progress: Updates will be tracked in Issue #8258.
- Backport Review:
- Reviewed pull requests to be backported to 5.8.1.
- Contributors should use the label backport:5.x for PRs that require backporting.
Feature Finalization
We are moving forward with finalizing the following features:
- PR #8210 – Multi-layer Support: Adds functionality for managing and blending an arbitrary number of layers in the Slice viewer.
- PR #8143 – Slice View Annotations: Adds support for configuring Slice view annotations.
- PR #8148 – Curved Planar Reformation (CPR): Integrates CPR support into Slicer core.

- Git Installation on All Platforms:
- @pieper will explore using Pixi Global to ensure Git is installed across all platforms.

SlicerVirtualReality: QR Code Support in OpenXR
- Integration with Upstream VTK:
- Support for QR Code scanning in OpenXR is being integrated into upstream VTK.

- This extension provides real-time runtime information about the real-world environment.
