Hi, I am confused by data loading in Slicer. All data I got is ended with .001 .002 .003 etc and I have no idea with the format of those files. I tried in one of my friends Mac and he is using Slicer 4.7.0 which works for those files. However, I can’t load these files in Slicers in other computers. May I ask for suggestions for this issue?

@Sukhe Please add some information: what method does your friend use to open the files that works on 4.7.0? What happens when you try the same method on the most recent Nightly build? Provide a log file (from the Help->Report a bug menu dialog).
Thanks Pieper, my friend just simply load data from my hard drive and it works. I tried the same way in different devices (mac,win) but not work. All files are in .001 .002 .003 etc. I use Hjsplit and 7 zip to join and extract files but not working. When I load data in 3d slicer, it comes with log as follow. I tried Nightly build but not work as well. My friend is using 4.7.0 but this version is no longer available now. Thank you for your help.

Hmm, interesting - do you know what kind of data this is and how it was processed? What format is it supposed to be in?
File->DICOM, “Import”, select folder, “Examine”, “Load”.

Sorry, I don’t know the format of these data. These are all data 20 years ago…
They are not dicom file and couldn’t be load 
Could you share files or one file (dropbox, google drive, etc.)?
Images today may have higher resolution, more contrast, less noise, etc., so those data sets from 20 years ago may not that much relevant anymore.
Anyway, if you share a few data sets then we can check to see if is feasible to load them.

Those files look like old GE file (Genesis, which was used a lot in Slicer2 and somewhat in Slicer3, but not used much for quite a while). As I recall the ITK readers for these may have been turned on or off multiple times because there was a lot of debugging of the dynamic library loading methods for image IO code.
If it’s workable for you, I’d suggest converting the old data into a format like nrrd or nii.gz to save space and be more compatible.
Can load, not in Slicer, ITK 4.13 said GE5ImageIO.
You can convert as suggested to nifti in itk-snap (tested with 3.6.0):
select one file, choose file format “GE Version 5”

Just discovered - it is possible to open directly in Slicer. For some reason Slicer wants to open the file by default as “Scalar Overlay”, if set type to “Volume” it works. ITK’s IO constructs volume from files in a folder automatically, having any single file, may this approach confuses Slicer somehow.

Yeah, I did in my slicers within volume mode, but it doesn’t works. I tried both windows and mac but not Linux. Only my friend’s slicer 4.7.0 (mac) works which was a nightly build version. I tried in 4.0.0 which is in older releases folder on the website and that one works. However, in the latest version 4.11.0, this image doesn’t show up in volume mode.

The data set loads just fine using latest stable version (Slicer-4.10):
As @Mihail_Isakov suggested above, select only a single file and choose Volume in the “Add data” dialog box.
That’s weird, I tried at least 5 laptops and computers (from different people as well as computer in the university) within Mac and Win system for 4.10, but all not work. Except that 4.7.0. Also Ben asked for the same problem year ago for the similar question.

I tried again with just load to 4.11.0, but it doesn’t show up…
with exactly the same procedure……
