SlicerJupyter not available for latest version?

Hello,
I just noticed that SlicerJupyter was not available as an extension for both the latest stable version and the latest unstable version.
What are the plans moving forward? Will SlicerJupyter work? SlicerJupyter is mission critical for my work.
Thanks, Juergen

Please see the following recent response on this topic:

Ok, thanks for the quick response. I’ve been using 5.7.0-2024-02-08 with SlicerJupyter without a problem though, but I’m not sure about newer versions. For sure it didn’t work with the latest 5.9.

Is there still hope and desire to bring SlicerJupyter back into operation or has this extension been abandoned?

No, it’s not abandoned, but we don’t hear a lot from users and there are many other priorities to juggle with. I’ll have a look if it’s easy to update to recent package versions that are compatible with Slicer. What operating system do you use?

Thanks, Andras, that’s encouraging. I understand that there are many other priorities. Unfortunately, I don’t have the skills to fix this, but I completely rely on SlicerJupyter because I scripted my entire workflow with it as a way to codify and document my process for repeatability. I would like to upgrade Slicer for a newer vtk etc but I’m stuck with 5.7.

I’m on Windows. Thanks

Dear Andras,

please let me chime in - actually, our working group, too, relies heavily (if not entirely) on SlicerJupyter regarding development of an electrophysiological, real-time fully MR-guided interventional procedure with 3DSlicer for visualization. This project runs together with ETH Zurich (Switzerland) funded by a Swiss National Fund.

Our main motivations to kindly ask for your setting priority higher for SlicerJupyter are:

  • Upgrading to 3DSlicer version >/= 5.9 and hence, Python3.12 (rendering Slicer code “future proof”)
  • Further improvements regarding Xeus-Python kernel integration in Jupyter to benefit from

We are mainly developing on Windows and Linux.

Many thanks in advance for considering to set SlicerJupyter to a higher priority - we very much appreciate the amazing work you have invested over all those years and cannot thank you enough for such dedication and perseverance

Warmest regards

Same here, we use SlicerJupyter a lot to study microwave ablation.
It would be a huge help if the extension was available in the latest realease

Hi, just wanted to let you know that we used SlicerJupiter a lot for analysis of clinical CT data as well as for a prototyping and debugging tool for surgery planning. For someone with a Data Analysis background I struggle to imagine developing something more complex without it. Having problems with the installation on MacOS since Slicer 5.2, we kind of got stuck on this Slicer release. I always check if new Versions fixed the issue, now seeing it gone completely from the Extension manager is a bit of a downer. I hope someone finds time to look into it.
That being said, thanks a lot for all the development you are doing, also I wouldn’t know how I would have fixed problems without all the information I found in this forum mostly by Andras himself.
